The Titans and Browns are best positioned for Sanders and Ward given that they hold the draft’s No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively. But the Raiders are in an equally dire situation to the Giants, and the Jets, Steelers, Colts and Saints all could make big changes, too.
If the Steelers don't move forward with Justin Fields or Russell Wilson, they have a few options via trade and free agency.
Daniel Jones is set to hit free agency. Should the Minnesota Vikings look to bring him back for the 2025 season?
Will the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 be Sam Darnold, J.J. McCarthy or Daniel Jones? It's the biggest question of the offseason and Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo ...
There are plenty of really good reasons why the Vikings should do the opposite of what the insider thinks will happen.
As such, Minnesota will be in prime position to revive another former starting quarterback's career in 2025 -- potentially as McCarthy's backup and/or his competition. The Vikings signed former New York Giants signal-caller Daniel Jones after he was cut mid-season and bringing him back is an option if Darnold departs.
There's a door open for Jones in Minnesota, according to general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. In his end-of-season news conference, Adofo-Mensah openly admitted that the move to sign Jones midseason was to get a feel for his potential fit with questions surrounding Darnold and McCarthy.
McCarthy missed his entire rookie campaign with a knee injury that could impact his readiness next year and he has yet to take a regular season snap in the NFL. Jones could sign a one-year contract with the Vikings similar to the $10 million deal Darnold inked in 2024 and serve as a backup and/or bridge QB to McCarthy.
It’s a near-lock that the Giants will draft a quarterback this year. They haven’t drafted one since Daniel Jones in 2019, so they’re overdue to take the bat off their shoulder. But it’s possible they don’t take a quarterback with the No. 3 pick, which I believe is the premise of your question.
"The time is now for Darnold to cash in on his strong regular season. The New York Giants could be a strong landing spot for him. They have a true No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers and a head coach in Brian Daboll who can maximize Darnold's arm strength and athleticism, as he did with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills," Knox wrote.
The Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick in 2025, and the main question among draft experts as we stand in late-January is: Will New York’s pick be Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward? ESPN staff writer Ben Solak sees another option for the Giants, and it doesn't involve drafting a QB.
